What You Need To Know For Cleaning Your Home

We all try our best to maintain a clean and healthy home, but some rooms need more cleaning love than others. Dirt, germs and bacteria can hide and might not be as easy to spot as you think. We have listed some of the rooms you need to pay attention to and why a good cleaning routine is needed.

THE BATHROOM

The bathroom is one of the dirtiest rooms in your home for many reasons. There are many any people using it so it’s no surprise it gets dirty fast. If one person doesn’t washing their hands it can spread bacteria around the entire room. This bacteria can linger on surfaces and even in the air.

Key Items to Clean:

  • Anything your hands touches. Focus on areas such as faucets, doorknobs and light switches.

  • Bath towels, hand towels and mats should be washed in hot water weekly.

  • Your sink should be wiped down daily with disinfecting wipes.

THE LIVING SPACE

The living room is another high-traffic room in any home. Living rooms are full of shared items with every member in your household touching many things, meaning the possibility for spreading germs and bacteria is at an all-time.

Key Items to Clean:

  • Any remote controllers or keypads should be wiped down daily with a disinfectant wipe (make sure it’s safe for use on electronics first).

  • Coffee tables have many germs and should be cleaned down daily.

  • Diffuse essential oils in this space to fight off germs regularly

  • Upholstery should be vacuumed weekly or even laundered if possible.

  • If you upholstery is leather whip down with a warm cloth ringed out with water only

THE SLEEPING SPACE

It makes sense that communal rooms are quick to get dirty, but what about your bedroom? Unfortunately, your bedroom can be full of fungus, bacteria and thousands of dust mites. The worst part? Most of these unpleasant dangers are found in your bed. This is why it’s so important to keep up with a regular washing schedule when it comes to your bed linens.

Key Items to Clean:

  • All bedding should be washed in hot water once a week

  • If bedding is not washed often, it can cause skin irritations like eczema and acne

  • Unclean sheets can even cause breathing issues especially for those with allergies

THE KITCHEN

Last but certainly not least is the kitchen is another dirty place in your home with no surprise. Heat, moisture and food has many elements that encourage bacterial growth. Combine that with the fact we often drop outside items like grocery bags, purses and backpacks in the kitchen, there’s much potential for our kitchens to be covered in dirt.

Key Items to Clean:

  • Sinks, refrigerator handles, cabinet pulls, small appliances and kitchen tools should be wiped daily

  • Countertops and surfaces cleaned with the proper cleaner. Depending if you have marble, granite, quartz or laminate counters will determine the type of cleaner you can use.

  • Where you put bags or outside items should be wiped down daily with disinfecting wipes

Here are some of our recommended cleaners for your home that we love. We even use these cleaners when we put our homes up for sale.
